I often tell people my whole body settled when I moved to the north shore of Boston. I was no longer in conflict with my environment. What I’ve been learning over the last several years is “grace over force.” I’ve tried to force so many things in my life and tried to fit in where I clearly didn’t. The best things in my life have been the result of grace. They have come through beauty and wonder. It’s been hard work but it’s been hard work in the right direction. I’m moving with the waves now. I’m riding a new rhythm. I’m writing and speaking from the voice that had always been mine but it was drown out by the expectation of others.
